Competition winners share their top tips for creating study space that maximises comfort and academic success in online school
With online learning becoming an increasingly important part of education, we wanted to showcase the best practices being implemented by our students' families. Recognizing this, LEO School held a competition to celebrate and highlight the most effective solutions our families have developed.
The competition was fierce, but ultimately, the parents of Aleksandr and Sofia Mare, two bright Year 1 students, emerged as the clear winners. We were thrilled to connect with the children's father, who kindly agreed to share his tips and tricks and offering invaluable advice for any parent seeking to create a conducive and effective learning environment at home.
Serge shared his experience creating a perfect study space that promotes comfort and efficiency during online classes.
Here are his tips:
1) 4K Webcam:
Serge mounted a webcam on the TV and connected it via USB to his laptop for streaming classes. This setup ensures excellent image and sound quality, crucial for online learning.
2) Speakerphone:
The microphone on the webcam was positioned too far from the children, making communication difficult. To improve audio quality, the father placed a speakerphone on the table between the children - an excellent solution for clearer sound and easier
communication.
3) 60-inch TV
The family chose a large TV instead of laptops or PCs to provide a better viewing experience for video lessons. An optometrist helped them to minimize eye strain by determining the optimal screen size and distance for each child.
4) Classic Desks
Sergei selected simple and comfortable desks for long study sessions. These desks provide the necessary comfort and functionality for children to focus on their studies.
5) Chairs with Foot Support
Because the children are young and can't reach the floor, they chose chairs with foot rests. These chairs help improve posture and make learning more comfortable for children.
Sergei ended the interview with a wish, "I hope our experience will be useful to other parents. I could use such information at the beginning of the journey!" He wished such guidance had been available to him earlier.
We're incredibly grateful to Sergei for his helpful advice, and we hope these tips will empower others to create a more comfortable and functional online learning environment for their children.
